I bought a second hand house at Chennai. The house is already covered under insurance and is still active in previous owner's name. Do I need to buy a new insurance or can I just transfer the existing insurance to my name. Kindly someone shed some light on this.

You have to transfer the insurance from the ex-owner to your name.
