Property owners harassment

I has leased a property and the lease expired on February 2011. While vacating the premises i had to remove the futniture and fixtures including the glass partitions. Now almost after an year, the owner sends me a notice saying that i have to pay up half the amount he had spent on renovating the premises after i left on Feb 2011. I dont understand why do i have to pay for renovations he makes in his property.

Also why did he take so long to inform me the same.

This is pure harassment.

i wnat to know, whether he can legfally stand with this notice.

You do not have to pay anything for the renovations he takes up on his property and he has no legal ground to send you a notice after a year.
