Ration card

When world war II broke out.

Food, paraffin oil and cloth and so many other things like metal.Metal was needed for making guns, arms rifles and other things. There was also a shortage of change.
We couldn't get change for our money, if we gave a rupee and had spent half a rupee the shopkeeper used to give us postage stamps instead.Rationing was introduced and ration cards issued.

After 70 years, Govt of Maharashtra has suddenly and without provocation discovered that ration card is not the proof of residence. You may have used it for obtaining passport, PAN card, admission for your children, allotment of house, opening bank account, domicile certificate, and what not. But all that goes overboard. In course of time, voting ID card, passport will also take a toss. Think hard what is the proof of your residence now.

Exactly Anil sir, then nothing will remain conclusive proof of not only residence, even for nationality. Probable reason behind declaring it is due to corruption or inept/inefficient handling and reporting by the govt. officials.

I think it is a clever ploy against persons coming from Bihar, UP, MP, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh and above all Bangladeshis. I smell the politics of Marathi Manoos.
