Replacement of witness during police investigation

Dear Experts, I have filed a private criminal complaint against my builder under various sections of IPC in March 2014 and as a cross case he has also filed a private criminal complaint against me u/s 384 of IPC in April 2014. Investigation report in both the cases are filed by police. But, at the time of filing the complaint in court, the witness named (only one witness) in complaint by the builder has no mention in police report and also there is no statement of that witness. Rather there are 3 new witness (not named at the time of filing complaint) introduced and police investigation was done based on those 3 new witness statements. Please let me know is it right if there if witness named in complaint is replaced by other witnesses during investigation?
