Issue : Sikkim Manipal Unversity DE degrees are invalid outside Sikkim.
I have completed my degree (B.Sc. IT) from Sikkim Manipal University via distance mode in 2006. Recently I applied for a post graduate course at Pt. Ravi Shankar Shukla Unversity , Raipur Chhattisgarh. The university authority informed me that my degree is not valid for higher course or employment in Chhattisgarh. The reason they gave me was SMU DE has violated the territorial jurisdiction of Sikkim and they are not allowed to open study centers outside Sikkim. If I had done my degree from Sikkim , only then my degree would have been valid.
The thing is When I enrolled for B.Sc. IT degree in 2002 ..there was no such rules of Territorial jurisdiction. Distance education council already made clear that Territorial jurisdiction doesn't apply on distance degrees. They imposed the said rule from 2012.
So what's your valuable advice for me ? it's not my fault that my degree is invalid now. UGC and DEC both gave recognition to SMU DE for conducting courses outside Sikkim.
