Rights to grandfather's property

Thanks for reading my issue.

I would want to know if my son can claim any rights on self earned property of grandfather. My son's father is alive as well as grandfather. But if grandfather does not leave behind any will after  his death then only my son can claim right to property ?

Grandfather & grandmother ,they have 2 sons .out of which one son whose wife I am have , have a son.

they have several properties in both of their name.My son is minor when can he claim and under what circumstances can he claim his rights under Hindu law?

If it was a self acquired property of the so called grandfather and he dies intestate, his estates/properties will automatically devolve upon his legal heirs i.e., wife, sons, daughters and his mother.  Here there is no question of grand children.  The grand children of the predeceased heirs will be entitled to a share out of the share that the pre-deceased  heir was entitled in the intestate properties. Hope your son's father and his father are living?, so you or your son cannot stake a claim legally.

Hi,

I am not able to understand the below lines. Does it mean he can get a share in his properties?

"The grand children of the predeceased heirs will be entitled to a share out of the share that the pre-deceased  heir was entitled in the intestate properties."
