Rti documents

I have requested for documents thru the RTI process.

I would like to seek "certified copies". Will the PIO attest that the document copies have been issued under the RTI Act? Is there any additonal procedure in the application process, that I need to perform to intimate him to do so?

Seeking certified copies is one form of seeking information under RTI Act.  When a citizen requests for information in the form of certified copies, Public information officer must provide such certified copies invariably.  DOPT has issued O & M as to the procedure to be adopted and words to be used for giving such certified copies.  AP High Court has ruled that such documents that are received as certified copies from the public authority under RTI Act are valid documentary evidence of public records.  There is never an extra cost for certified copies.   Whether it is Xerox or certified PIO has to charge Rs.2/- only per every A4 size Page
