Safety concerns - travelling for first court hearing

Hello,

I have received a court summons to appear in connection with a false complaint files at a town different from place of my residence. On the last occasion, I had travelled to this town to submit and encash bank guarantee provided by the plaintiff. He had then manipulated the bank officials, so they refused to accept my documents. Moreover, he forced me to go to the nearby police station where I was grilled for more than two hours for no fault of mine. Clearly, the plaintiff is a powerful and influential person.

I clearly see treat to my life if I travel to this place for the hearing.

How can I safeguard myself? Can I write to the court explaining the situation? If yes, how can I plead in the letter.

I do not want to appoint a lawyer who will represent me there on my behalf.

Please advise. Thank you.
