Service matter and information under rti act, 2005

Good Afternoon All,

I am an Inspector with the Civil Supplies Department. I am seeking guidance on the following two issues:

  1. Incident of Suspected Illegal Activities:
    • Four years ago, while accessing my official login, I observed activities that I suspected to be illegal.
    • I immediately alerted my higher officials and filed a formal complaint requesting an investigation into the matter.
    • To date, no action has been taken on this complaint.
  2. Complaint Against Colleague:
    • Three and a half years ago, I filed a complaint against a colleague alleging forgery, mismanagement of digital keys, and other irregularities.
    • No action has been taken on this complaint as well.

In light of the above, I would like to inquire:

  • Can I utilize the Right to Information (RTI) Act, 2005, to seek the status of both these cases?
  • If so, should I make an application under RTI Act, 2005 as an official or as an individual.

I appreciate any guidance or advice on this matter

An employee of a government organization can request information about a pending complaint in the same department through the Right to Information (RTI) Act.

The RTI Act gives all citizens of India the right to information, regardless of whether they are an insider or an outsider.

The RTI Act only provides information that is available and held by the public authority

The Central Information Commission has ruled that information about complaints against a government officer and any action taken on those complaints is personal information

Yes, a Government servant, like any Indian citizen, can seek information under the RTI Act.

Yes.  You can seek information using RTI.
