Sms (short message service) as proof

Dear All,

I want to know for how long (for how many months/years after sending) SMS can be presented as a proof. Someone has filed FIR against my brother for sending some messages which might be offensive (we dont have copy of messages). But the messages were sent 2years back, and the FIR has been launched now. Is this a valid proof?

Thanks in advance for any help.

Dear all,

Thanx for your help,
