Stamp duty on it contracts

Is it required to pay Stamp Duty on IT Service Contracts& License Agreements?

Does it fall under the category of Works Contract for the purpose of Stamp Duty?

Hi Abinash

Every agreement needs to be stamped as per Indian Stamp Act. You can execute the agreement on a minimal amount of Rs. 100.

All the valid contracts will be required to be paid with proper stamp duty lest it may not be held valid in the event of litigation in future.

Yes! You are required to pay stamp duty on IT services contract and Licence Agreements and works contracts etc as otherwidse they are legally not valid and not admissible in evidence in a court of law,.
