Suspension of sentence after conviction in 1stAppellatecourt

Husband got Acquitted in the magistrate court but when wife has appealed to sessions court he was convicted u/s 498A & sec 4 of Dowry Prohibition act. Please let me know the scope of Suspension of sentence after conviction in 1st Appellate court i.e the sessions court pending appeal to High court u/s 389 crpc. Answers are highly appreciated.
