Three cheers for nalsa

Three Cheers For NALSA,

To protect rivers from sand mafia, the country’s top official legal aid institution NATIONAL LEGAL SERVICES AUTHORITY (NALSA), under the chairmanship of senior most Supreme Court Judge, Justice Altamas Kabir, took the decision to file a writ petition before the green bench of SC.

Earlier, it had filed a petition in the SC seeking direction to government for protection of widows of Vrindavan who live in pitiable conditions after being abandoned by their kith and kin.

Please join me in congratulating NALSA for taking these wonderful initiatives.

I SALUTE you Justice KABIR & your fabulous team.

WISHING YOU THE VERY BEST.

Warm Regards,

Learning

Good move... considering the growing need for river sand by the construction industry and the environmental issues cropping up due to excessive sand mining by the sand mafia. It is said that, due to sand mining, the river bed goes deep and that the capacity of water to dissipate to riparian lands is diminishing, resulting in drought on either side of the rivers. Deepening of the rivers results in landslides also.

Some good policy needs to be framed which will protect the rivers and cater needs of the construction industry also and most importantly it should be stringently executed.
