Trust

Can a trustee be appointed as Principal of a school under the trust of which she is a trustee on an honararium if the school is not financially capable of appointing a principal with proper salary provided that the person so appointed shall not be gainfully employed anywhere else and will devote full time to the school? Kindly advice. Thank you

Yes, the trustee can be appointed as principal if the trustee has the requisite qualification and reasonable honararium which would be paid to such employee for such post can be paid. However, under Income Tax Act, any payments to trustees or members will be not acceptable.
