Are the current IDs such as PAN Card, Election Card, Ration Card, Address Proof, Residency Proof, etc meant to become obsolete once a person gets a New UID / Aadhar.
Or the New UID is another document to add to the list of identify documents. I have noticed that though I was born in a family of natives (with history going back several hundreds years), I am asked for multiple documents for identity, address etc when I have to renew my passport. At the same time, I read press articles where several Pakistanis and Bangla Deshis are caught with Indian passports.
Strange are the ways our bureaucratic system works. I hope the UID puts a stop to these systemic deficiencies, and makes it more transparent for the genuine citizens.
