I work with Cognizant Technology Solutions Pvt. Ltd. in Kolkata in their BPS division. I just wanted to know if IT sector in India is bound to follow state or national Labor Law or not. If yes, what are my rights as an employee to get washroom breaks whenever required. My supervisor denies it every now and then, and asks to complete the task and only then I'm free to go. Is this legal? Do they have the right to restrict me from goign to the lavatory? Can they ask me like that?
