What are powers of a counsellor?

My case has been refreed by the judge to a counsellor. i had aksed for annulemnt of my marriage within 2 months of marrriage on the grounds of my husband's impotency. he is settled in usa while the court case is going on in india. the judge has herself referrrd me to a counsllor so that the amount for copensation or any other terms and conditions can be decided between both the families.

my husband's parents have now been called to meet the counsellor with my family as well for a joint session to decide the amount. till now my husband was fighting his case ont he besis of power of attorney given to his uncle but now the counsellor has asked his parents to come personally because the uncle cannot take the final decision on the amount.

i wanted to know what powers does a counsellor have in this scenario?

how is mediation centre different from counsellor?

should i opt for mediation or counsellor to get my dues paid properly?

counsellor has no power,, he/she just arrange meeting and try to settle the matter with both's consent..

he/she will convince to both the family to settle dowm the matter,, its upto the parties. they settle or not..counsellor  cant force or order to any party,

and the same thing in mediation,,
