What is ancestral property

Dear Sir  

Please let me know,according to below mention details,if the proerty in my grandfather father's hand is ansectral property.

1) My Great Great Grandfather has property .

2) Property pass to My Great Greatfather. 

3) Then,My Grandfather and 2 borthers of my grandfather devide the property.

4) My father & 2 brothers.  

SO please let me know that

A)  Property in the hands of my Grandfather is ansectral proerty of not?

B) My granfather can will the property?

For 1-2 point i am not sure.

but 3 point 1950.

A) it is ancestral property

B) your grand father can't will the ancestral property as it is not his self earned and hence doesn't have will rights.

IF your grandfather had received the property in the year 1950, it is ANCESTRAL qua his children.

Therefore your grandfather cannot WILL the entire property.  However, he can WILL only his share in the property, NOT the entire property.

Sir,i have one query,somewhere i read that the property Ancestral property should not be partioned upto previous four generation.

But in my case my grandfather & his 2 brothers has done the partition.

So,please help me to undetstand the actual facts.

Sir,i have one more query,what is the "Gair Marusi property".And if the Gair marusi property can be willed?
