Hi Sir, Wife filed 498 on me only and released regular bail. Now women PS CI calling to me and threatening me to come to police station and agree for settlement and settlement amount keep at her. Please advise how to respond her calls. 498A hearing I have next month on 06.12.2014. Please advise how to face this hearing and I applied 498a quash in high court and matter is pending and file not yet come for hearing. Please advise. Thanks for quick response.

The women police do not have any right t force a party to settle an amount of her choice, she can mediate for an amicable settlement but cannot force anyone, if there arise no compromise, her duty is to proceed as per law, so do not agree for any pressure, you can inform her about your unwillingness and inform her that you will face the case through court. If she insists more, you may give a complaint to the higher police official against her for forcing you to settle the amount as per her dictate.
