Inaugurating a Conference on “Curbing Deficit through Effective Competition in Public Procurement” in the Capital today, Shri Ashok Chawla, Chairman of the Commission emphasised about the competitive imperatives required in the govt. policies in general. He also gave suggestions to introduce and increase competition and transparency in the procurement practices that could also help in reducing fiscal and revenue deficit of the government.

The Conference was attended by more than 100 representatives from more than 30 ministries/ departments of the Central Government. Notably, CCI has already organised workshop with Nodal Officers of Central Ministries/ Departments on Competition Coherent Government Policies earlier this year.
