Kerala High Court, upheld the Order issued by the Central Environmental Ministry prohibiting the commercial activities of Eco-Tourism Society in Kannur District of Kerala. The Society started an eco-tourism project in Kannur causing massive destruction of Mangroves. The Judgement was delivered by the Division Bench of Chief Justice J Chelameswar and Justice Thomas P Joseph.
A petition filed by the Kerala Cricket Association is pending before the Kerala High Court on an identical issue. The KCA started construction of a Cricket Stadium in Eda Kochi, by causing massive destruction of Mangroves and violating the regulations under Environmental Protection Laws.
