Shri Thaawarchand Gehlot Assumes Charge as Union Minister of Social Justice and Empowerment

Shri Thaawarchand Gehlot assumed charge as the Union Minister for Social Justice and Empowerment here today. The new Ministers of State for Social Justice and Empowerment Shri Krishan Pal Gurjar, Shri Ramdas Athawale and Shri Rattan Lal Kataria also assumed charge. Smt. Neelam Sawhney, Secretary, M/o Social Justice and Empowerment, Smt. Shakuntala D. Gamlin, Secretary, DEPwD and senior officers of the Ministry were present on the occasion.

Later, Shri Gehlot held a Meeting with the Ministers of State, Secretaries and senior officers of the Ministry to review the programmes and projects of the Ministry.

Shri Gehlot was born on 18rd May, 1948 in village Rupeta (Nagda), Ujjain, Madhya Pradesh. He was re-elected to Rajya Sabha in April, 2018.  He held the post of Union Minister for Social Justice and Empowerment during the previous tenure of the government also.
