Safoora Zargar, who is 23 weeks pregnant was arrested on April 10 under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act over the riots that broke out in February during protests against the Citizenship Amendment Act was granted bail by the Delhi High Court on Tuesday.
The Court granted a regular bail to her on furnishing a personal bond of Rs. 10,000 and on the following conditions:
- She should not leave Delhi without permission
- She has to contact theInvestigating Officer on phone at least once in 15 days
- She was asked not to indulge in the activities that she is being investigated for
The Solicitor General Mr. Tushar Mehta who represented the Police did not oppose her bail as it was granted on humanitarian grounds but submitted that this should not be considered as a valid precedent.
