1. Karnataka HC on the lawyers body restricting representation of sedition accused
• A lawyers’ body in Karnataka had issued a resolution restricting the members to represent a woman in a sedition case.
• The Karnataka HC held this to be unprofessional.
• The HC also questioned the State Bar Council as to why they had not taken action against the lawyers’ body.
2. Woman charged 10000 for false allegations
• In Ahmedabad, the Court has charged a woman with the fine of 10000 for making falce allegations.
• The Court held that there was no evidence to prove her allegations.
3. Family Court cannot do away with procedural requirements: SC
• In the case of Aman Lohia v. Kiran Lohia, the Supreme Court has held that a Family Court does not have the plenary powers to do away with the procedural requirements in a case.
• “The nature of inquiry before the Family Court is, indeed, adjudicatory. It is obliged to resolve the rival claims of the parties and while doing so, it must adhere to the norms prescribed by the statute in that regard and also the foundational principles of fairness of procedure and natural justice,” the Supreme Court opined.
4. Delhi HC directs 2 youngsters to do community service at RML Hospital
• In the case of Mahender Singh v. State, the Delhi HC has directed two youngsters to do community service at RML Hospital for one month and quashed their FIR.
• “The petitioners have to understand that anger does not give a license to take law in their hands. In order to sober down the petitioners this Court feels that they should do some community service for at least one month,” the Court opined.

• The Japan SC has held that the failure of the Government to recognize same sex marriages is unconstitutional.
• The Court also held that this violates the right to equality of the people.
2. Sudan requests for mediation in Nile dam dispute
• Sudan has requested for a 4-party mediation in the Nile dam dispute.
• This request has been made to the US, EU, African Union Chairman and Democratic Republic of Congo.
• This dam is being built by Ethiopia and Egypt and Sudan have expressed their concern over the consequence that it could have.
