Plea In Supreme Court Seeks SIT Probe Into Alleged Killings Of BJP Workers By TMC In Post-Poll Violence In West Bengal
In the aftermath of the West Bengal post-poll unrest, a petition has been filed in the Supreme Court demanding an SIT investigation into the alleged killings of BJP employees by Trinamool Congress Party (TMC) supporters.
The plea, filed by Advocate Ghanshyam Upadhyay, requests that the West Bengal Government be disassociated from the investigation of the cases and that the West Bengal Governor submit a report to the Apex Court to aid the Apex Court in determining if there has been any breakdown of constitutional machinery in the State and, as a result, advise the President to issue a proclamation under Arjun Singh.
The petition claims that "massacre killings of alleged BJP workers/supporters and destruction of their houses/properties" occurred after the TMC was declared the state's ruling party on May 2nd, leaving the remaining workers/supporters with no choice but to flee their homes and seek refuge.

Even if a technical member is not present on the Bench, the Securities Appellate Tribunal (SAT) has ruled that it has the authority to hear and resolve appeals (Axis Bank Limited v. National Stock Exchange of India Ltd).
As a result, if the coram is otherwise complete, the functioning of SAT would not be affected by the absence of a technical member.
