SC NOTICE TO NITISH GOVT IN DOUBLE MURDER CASE The Supreme Court issued notices to state of Bihar and others on a petition seeking initiation of contempt of court proceedings against Nitish Kumar government for not complying with the directions of Patna High Court directing the state government to appoint a Special Public Prosecutor having standing of more than 10 years to conduct double murder case against JD(U) MP Prabhunath Singh. According to the petitioner, Harendra Rai, the High Court has wrongly dismissed his petition for contempt of court against the state government. Two persons namely Rajender Rai and Kishori Rai were murdered in 1997 and in that case Prabunath Singh was main accused. Counsel for the petitioner earlier submitted before a bench comprising Justices B N Agrawal and G S Singhvi that the public prosecutor in the case was having only 8 years experience and he also tried to influence the key witnesses in the case and thereby obstructing the course of justice leading to the acquittal of Prabhunath Singh in the sensational double murder case.
