SC Reserves Judgement On Sister's Plea Challenging Quashing Of KCOCA Charges Against Accused In Gauri Lankesh Murder Case
The case was about Gauri Lankesh, who was shot dead in Bengaluru in 2017. A plea had been filed by her sister, KavitaLankesh, challenging the Karnataka High Court judgement which quashed charges under Karnataka Control of Organised Crimes Act (KCOCA) against the accused. The plea was heard by a bench comprising Justice AM Khanwilkar, Justice Dinesh Maheshwari and Justice CT Ravikumar.

The case was of RajendraBajoria v. Hemant Kumar Jalan. The decision was given by Justices L. Nageswara Rao and BR Gavai. It was held by the court that a court has to reject a plaint if it finds that none of the reliefs sought in it can be granted to the plaintiff under the law. Change of date of birth in the service record cannot be claimed as matter of right, even if there is cogent evidence.
