Krishna Janmabhoomi Dispute: Mathura Court Orders ASI Officials To Attend Court-Ordered Eidgah Inspection

A new petition has been filed with a court in Mathura demanding the presence of Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) officers when Court Amin inspects/surveys the Eidgah mosque premises in connection with the Sri Krishna Janmasthan-Shahi Idgah dispute issue.

Facts

Dinesh Sharma, the National Treasurer of the Akhil Bharat Hindu Mahasabha, filed the plea in the suit (Bhagwan Bal Krishna vs. Intezamia Committee) filed by Vishnu Gupta, the National President of Hindu Sena (via Advocate Shailesh Dube), seeking possession of the Shahi Idgah premises and demolition of the current structure located there.

It should be recalled that, while hearing Gupta's plea, Civil Judge III Sonika Verma asked the Civil Court Amin (also known as court officers) on December 22 to visit and assess the disputed site and submit a report (with maps) to the Court by January 20.

Gupta has now filed the following petition to request the participation of ASI personnel during the survey/inspection:

Observations of court

"The court has issued an order to obtain the status of the site through 'Amin Sahab,' but regarding the installation of the stones in the Idgah, and to bring the correct facts, and to reach the correct conclusion officials of the Archaeological Survey of India must be present during the inspection by 'Amin Sahab,' and they should note down all the facts and give their suggestions regarding the age of the stones."

Appeal

The appeal further claims that in Eidgah, the stones of the ancient temple, legendary inscriptions, and artworks have been installed and the stones of all Thakur ji's treasures have been replaced, giving the impression that the ancient temple's remains have been buried in Idgah.

In light of this, the plea requests that the requested directives be granted.

It should be mentioned that the Shahi Idgah Mosque Committee applied with the Mathura Court protesting the Court's decision for an 'Amin survey' of the mosque grounds.

It is worth noting that in the case at hand (Bhagwan Balkrishna vs. Intezamia Committee), plaintiff Gupta has disputed the ownership of the 13.77-acre plot of land on which the Idgah is built. According to the claim, Aurangzeb built the Idgah on the 13.37 acres of Shri Krishna's birthplace after demolishing the Sri Krishna temple.

Agreement between Sri Krishna Janmasthan Seva Sangh and Shahi Idgah 

In light of this, the complaint demands the annulment of the 1968 agreement between Sri Krishna Janmasthan Seva Sangh and Shahi Idgah, which it claims is invalid.

This is one of several lawsuits filed in court demanding the demolition of the 17th-century Shahi Idgah Masjid, which is said to be built on Krishna Janambhumi's property.

It's worth noting that Mathura's Shahi Idgah Masjid is just near the Krishna Janmabhoomi, which is thought to be the birthplace of the Hindu deity Krishna.
