A Division Bench of Andhra Pradesh High Court adjourned to December 29 hearing on a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) seeking a ban on road shows by political parties in the state.
The Bench comprising Chief Justice A R Dave and Justice R Subhash Reddy which passed an interim order on the PIL filed by an NGO seeking a ban on Road Shows, also accepted a PIL sent in the form of a letter by a senior journalist.
The senior journalist contended that a heart patient could not reach the hospital in time on account of traffic jam created by a road show.
These road shows are creating lots of problems on the main roads, he also submitted.
He submitted that it is time some regulation were made to check this kind of unwanted hindrance to traffic in the metropolis.
The Bench also observed that it was necessary that a workable formula should be evolved to contain the road shows.
The Respondents counsel sought time for filing objections to the guidelines issued by the Director General of Police for the conduct of road shows.
