Three Youths Get Life Sentence For Murder 2 Jan 2009, 0532 hrs IST, TNN PUNE: Sessions judge B D Kapadnis on Monday sentenced three youths to life imprisonment for murdering a footwear shop owner in a hotel in Swargate in 2005. The convicts are Kailash Sarole (22), Prakash alias Balya Bansode (21) and Sunny alias Akash Belkhande (19), all residents of Mangalwar Peth. The victim, Vijay Kamble (22) of Dattanagar, worked in Sarole's footwear shop in Ganesh Peth before starting his own business. During this time, he fell in love with Sarole's sister, then a final year MBBS student at a medical college in the city. After their relationship became known, Sarole and Kamble's families quarrelled frequently over the matter. Additional public prosecutor Ramesh Ghorpade said that Sarole and others attacked Kamble earlier as well. The convicts later set him a 15-day deadline to call off the relationship and threatened to kill him if he did not do so. Kamble then broke up with Sarole's sister and got engaged to another girl. Ghorpade stated that Sarole called Kamble to a hotel in Swargate on the pretext of attending a party on November 6, 2005. Inside the hotel, Sarole fired at him with a revolver. The bullet hit Kamble in the throat. Kamble ran out of the hotel and collapsed in the hotel's parking lot. Sarole hit him with the revolver's butt on the forehead and nose. Sarole, along with Bansode and Belkhande, then left on a motorcycle, Ghorpade said. The prosecution examined 43 witnesses to prove the guilt of the convicts. Three other suspects, Somnath Khedekar, Rama Sarole and Rajesh Waduskar, were acquitted by the court due to lack of evidence. The case was investigated by police inspectors Chandrakant Jadhav and Dattatraya Temghare and assistant police inspector Rajendra Pardeshi.
