New Delhi, Mar 19 (PTI) A woman has landed in trouble for filing a case before a Delhi court under the Domestic Violence Act against her husband and father-in-law who had allegedly died 15 years ago, much before her marriage. "Sattar, who could not witness his son's wedding with complainant woman has posthumously been accused of harassing his daughter-in-law that too under the new law which has been enacted two years ago," Haneef Mohammed, counsel for husband, said. Seeking prosecution of Reshma, her husband Mohd Akram has filed an application before Metropolitan Magistrate Ravinder Bedi alleging that his father, who has wrongly been accused of harassing her, had infact died in 1993. "Reshma in the petition has arrayed Abdul Sattar, father of Akram, had already expired in the year 1993," the petition alleged, seeking initiation of an enquiry against Reshma for giving wrong information to the court. Terming the case as a classic example of "malicious prosecution", Akram's counsel Haneef Mohammed told the court that the woman be prosecuted under section 340 (giving wrong information in court proceeding) of the Criminal Procedure Code. Reshma, a resident of Zamia Nagar here, had lodged a complaint against her husband Akram and father-in-law and mother-in-law accusing them of forcing her to leave the matrimonial house. PTI
