Madras HC Orders Notice To Centre, NCSC 1/21/2009 The Madras High Court has ordered notice to the Union Government and the National Commission for Scheduled Castes (NCSC) for filing a counter to a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) petition seeking a direction to authorities for disposing of a representation to fill vacant posts at the Commission’s national headquarters and regional offices. The Notice was taken on behalf of the respondents -- Union Secretaries in the Ministries of Social Justice and Empowerment and Home, Department of Personnel and Training -- and the Secretary of the Commission. The First Bench comprising Acting Chief Justice S J Mukhopadhaya and Justice V Dhanapalan, posted the matter for February 16, and said the case may be disposed of at the admission stage. The petition was filed by M Palanimuthu, an advocate of Todhunter Nagar, Saidapet in the city. UNI
