AP HC Stays Road Project To Maytas, Bars Company's Future Works 2/14/2009 Andhra Pradesh High Court stayed the Rs 120 crore road project in Kadapa district awarded on nomination basis to Maytas Infra, promoted by disgraced Satyam Computer Services founder B Ramalinga Raju and his family members and also barred the company from getting government works. A Division Bench consisting of Chief Justice Anil Ramesh Dave and Mr Justice Ramesh Ranganathan, hearing a public interest litigation filed by an advocate Narayana Reddy from Kadapa district, directed the state government not to allot any new work to the company pending hearing in the case. The petitioner submitted that the state government had allotted the road project to the company on nomination basis, without calling for tenders. State Information Minister A Ramanarayan Reddy told reporters after a cabinet meeting that the state Government would act as per the directions of the High Court in the matter. Maytas Infra had bagged contracts worth Rs 38,000 crore for infrastructure projects, including the prestigious Metro Rail and Machilipatnam port modernisation. UNI
