Make 'BARAATS' Quick & Quiet, Warn Cops Dated : 23 Feb 2009, 0415 hrs IST, Source : TNN PUNE: Text: Wedding planners take note. The city police have issued orders to cut the band-baaja and speed up wedding processions on the roads. So, while you can take your wedding march through the city, the time taken for this must not exceed one hour. Also, you cannot burst firecrackers, blare loudspeakers or operate musical instruments on generators during the procession. Only the bandwallahs expending raw energy on their drums, trumpets et al can continue with their business. Big vehicles are not permitted in the procession. The diktat comes in the wake of growing criticism of such processions for creating traffic congestion and disturbing residents. The wedding organisers also need to take police permission for the procession.
