Justice Hemant Laxman Gokhale will be sworn-in Chief Justice of the Madras High Court on March 9. Gokhale, at present Chief Justice of Allahabad High Court, has been recently cleared to take over as the Chief Justice of Madras High Court by President Pratibha Patil. He comes in place of Justice A K Ganguly, who was elevated as a judge of the Supreme Court in December last. Since then, Justice S J Mukhopadhyaya has been the Acting Chief Justice of the court.
