Rani Mukherjee moves HC Aurangabad, Maharashtra, Apr 4 (UNI) Bollywood actress Rani Mukherjee today filed a petition before the Aurangabad bench of the Bombay High Court, challenging the order of Shrirampur sub-divisional officer (SDO) to cancel her right on a land near the pilgrim town of Shirdi. Rani's father Ram Mukherjee filed the petition on her behalf, challenging validity of the order, saying that only a divisional commissioner could inquire into matters related with the land ceiling. But in her case, the SDO has passed the order and he has no authority on such matters, he contended. The petitioner has also challenged the SDO's order, arguing that land had already been converted into a non-agriculture (NA) category in 1981, long before Rani had purchased the land in 2005. And once the land was placed in NA category, it would be exempted from the ceiling provisions. Senior lawyer Shashikumar Choudhary represented the actress. The next hearing on the petition will be on April 9.
