Gujarat HC Adjourns Hearing On Banerjee Committee Report AHMEDABAD, 4 Mar 2009 : The Gujarat High Court on Wednesday adjourned hearing on the petition filed by the Centre seeking permission to table Justice U C Banerjee Committee's report on Godhra train fire, in Parliament. A division bench of Chief Justice K S Radhakrishnan and Justice Akil Kureshi, adjourned the hearing till March 18 after the advocate representing respondent Nilkanth Bhatia, sought more time to prepare for the case. During the proceedings Chief Justice Radhakrishnan asked the counsel for the Union Government as to when will the Centre table the report in Parliament, which is currently not in session. The Centre had moved the Supreme Court last month seeking permission to table the report in Parliament. A Bench headed by Chief Justice K G Balakrishnan, while taking note of the plea, had asked the Gujarat High Court to dispose of a petition filed by the Centre within six weeks. The Centre had filed the petition against the order of the single bench of Gujarat High Court which had said that the appointment of Banerjee committee was illegal, null and void as one commission (Nanavati-Shah commission) was already probing the incident.
