BANGALORE: The Federation of Bar Associations in Karnataka on Tuesday urged the Chief Justice of the Karnataka High Court to take expeditious steps to shift the family courts from Nyayadegula on Siddaiah Road to the District and Sessions Court Complex (City Civil Court) immediately. Speaking to presspersons here on Tuesday, federation president K.N. Subba Reddy said lawyers and litigants were finding it difficult to attend the court in Nayayadegula. The sessions courts are situated in the centre of the city and are more accessible than Nyayadegula, he said. Referring to the facilities required by the advocates, he said that the compensation from the death relief fund to the next of the kin of advocates who die should be enhanced from Rs. 1.5 lakh to Rs. 5 lakh. He urged the Government to acquire land near the city to establish a lawyers’ colony.
