Lawyer moves court seeking action against Karunanidhi Chennai (PTI): An advocate on Thursday filed a petition in the Madras High Court seeking a direction to the CBI to lodge a case holding Chief Minister Karunanidhi responsible for the alleged beating up of advocates in the Court premises on February 19. The advocate S Doraisamy alleged that state Home Secretary Malathi, on Karunanidhi's instructions, had directed the DGP and city Police Commissioner, among others, to beat up lawyers. "Some 500 policemen headed by a Joint Commissioner of Police had illegally entered the court premises and beat up over 100 advocates, court staff, litigants and even Judges besides damaging court property and four-wheelers and two-wheelers," he said in his petition. He narrated the sequence of events from February 17, when eggs were thrown at Janata Party President Subramanian Swamy while he was attending the Court in connection with a case, till the police-lawyers clash two days later. Meanwhile, advocates boycotting courts in protest against the 'attack' on them formed a human chain around the High Court even as the court proceedings were affected.
