Gauhati HC stays Meghalaya deputy Speaker's suspension

3/26/2009 The Shillong Bench of the Gauhati High Court stayed the interim order of suspension of Meghalaya Deputy Speaker and NCP Legislator Sanbor Shullai. In response to the writ petition filed by Mr Shullai, Justice Asoke Potsangbam issued a stay order on Speaker Bindo M. Lanongs interim ruling suspending the voting rights of his deputy ahead of the trust vote. Mr Shullai had reportedly switched allegiance to the Congress leading to his suspension.
