Transfer of Kasab's case to Juvenile Court rejected

The designated court judge M L Tahilyani rejected a petition seeking transfer of case of Mohammad Ajmal Amir Kasab, the lone Pakistani terrorist captured during the 26/11 terror attacks in the city, to the juvenile court.

Kasab’s lawyer Abbas Kazmi told the court that Kasab had stated to him that he was a minor during the attacks and based on this, advocate Kazmi submitted before the court that Kasab’s case should be transferred to the juvenile court.

However, Judge Tahilyani rejected the petition saying that Kasab had mentioned his birth date as September 13, 1987 in his confessional statement and said the same before the investigating officers, so he was not a minor. The judge also said that Kasab did not look like a minor and appeared to be above 21-years.
