Harshad Mehta's mother approaches SC for relief Big Bull Harshad Mehta's mother today approached the Supreme Court against a Special Court's order making her a party to proceedings for redeeming the share broker's properties allegedly bought from money swindling from the stock market. Rasila Mehta, 71, sought a stay on the order which may lead to the sale of a Mumbai house where she is presently residing. Her statutory appeal against the order of the Special Court was mentioned by senior advocate Harish Salve and Kamini Jaiswal before a Bench headed by Chief Justice K G Balakrishanan, which fixed May 5 to hear the matter. Mehta's mother contended that the place where she is living cannot be considered as a benami property of her son who died in judicial custody due to cardiac failure in 2001. She said originally 29 entities were notified by the Special Court for redeeming the properties bought by her son. After 16 years, her name along with another was added to the list.
