Examination of 100 witnesses was completed till today in connection with the 26/11 terror attacks in the city within 52 Days of commencement of the trial.
These witnesses were examined in the designated court before special judge M L Tahilyani in connection with three separate cases, out of the 12 cases registered against 47 accused, including the lone arrested Pakistani terrorist Ajmal Amir Kasab, Faheem Ansari, Sabauddin (all in custody), 35 wanted accused, who are residents of Pakistan, and nine terrorists who were killed during the attacks.
Special Public Prosecutor Ujjwal Nikam had opened the case with the incident of Girgaum Chowpatti from where Kasab was nabbed by the police. Assistant Police Inspector Tukaram Ombale was killed and two other police personnel suffered bullet injuries in an encounter with Kasab and his accomplice Abu Ismail at the spot.
The second case was of the capture of Kuber boat by the ten terrorists including Kasab, who travelled in the boat to reach the city. The navigator of the boat Amarsingh Solanki was brutally killed by Kasab and four fishermen onboard are still not traceable.
The third case taken up was of Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus (CST) firing in which 56 people were killed and several others injured.
Among the 100 witnesses, several eyewitness including police officers, Doctors, Injured persons identified Kasab in the court room.
