 A Sessions Court in Alibaug, Raigad district, on Saturday rejected the plea for grant of bail to Nationalist Congress Party MP Padamsinh Patil. The Osmanabad MP was accused of ordering the killing of Congress leader Pawanraje Nimbalkar in a case of corruption, foul play and political rivalry.

Ejaz Khan, prosecutor for the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), told The Hindu that the court rejected the bail application on the grounds that the probe was at a crucial stage and one of the accused was in the CBI custody.
