The legal profession would be in peril if professionals were implicated in criminal cases for discharging their duty, the Madras High Court said on Thursday.
Justice M. Jeyapaul was allowing petitions by M.V. Chandran and E. Kumar, both advocates, who had been charged on the ground that they rendered legal opinion which paved the way for forgery of documents, fabrication of records and cheating two nationalised banks.
The judge discharged Mr. Chandran and quashed proceedings against Mr. Kumar.
