SC orders status quo in Sahara Sahar matter The Supreme Court on Monday ordered status quo on the Sahara Sahar demolition matter on a petition filed by the Uttar Pradesh government. A bench headed by Justice Altmas Kabir, while issuing notice to Sahara, ordered that it should not take up any construction and also directed the Lucknow Development Authority not to resort to any demolition in the commercial property of Sahara till the next date of hearing. The state government had approached the apex court after the Lucknow Bench of the Allahabad High Court restrained LDA from demolishing Sahara Sahar and to restore possession of land to the company, Sahara India Commercial Corporation Ltd (SICCL). LDA in its petition said that SICCL flouted the mandatory provisions of the Uttar Pradesh Urban Planning and Development Act, 1973 by raising unauthorised constructions over carved zonal roads under the Master Plan, 2021 without its prior permission.
