Additional Sessions Judge S K Saravaria ordered life imprisonment to two members of the prestigious President's Bodyguards(PBG), Harpreet Singh and Satinder Singh, for raping a 17-year old girl in Buddha Jayanti Garden in 2003. Two other members, Kuldeep Singh and Manish Kumar, were ordered ten years imprisonment each for helping in commission of the offence. On August 17, the Judge had held the accused persons guilty of kidnapping and raping a 17-year old student of Delhi University in 2003. "The accused Harpreet Singh and Satinder Singh are convicted for rape and kidnapping and attempt to robbery while Kuldeep Singh and Manish Kumar are convicted for helping them in commission of the offence," said the judge while pronouncing the verdict. The Court acquitted Kuldeep and Manish of the charge of gang rape. The Prosecution had alleged that the victim had gone with her boyfriend Ashish to the park near Rashtrapati Bhavan on October 6, 2003 and was raped by Harpreet and Satinder while the other two accused, Kuldeep and Manish, kept guard. The accused first roughed up the victim's friend and then took her to a secluded place inside the park before raping her, according to the prosecution. Prosecution examined 25 witnesses, including the victim and her friend Ashish, to prove the case. The Judge pronounced his decision after hearing the arguments on sentence of prosecution and defence .
