The Supreme Court registry moved the Delhi High Court challenging its single-judge order which said the office of the Chief Justice of India (CJI) comes within the ambit of the transparency law and asked him to provide the information sought by the RTI aspirant within a month.



The High Court judge Justice S Ravindra Bhat had on September 2 directed the Supreme Court to furnish information sought by an RTI aspirant Subhash Chandra Aggarwal who wanted to know as to how many judges has filed the information regarding their assets so far.



Challenging this order, the Supreme Court filed an appeal before a division bench of the High Court and asked the court to settle the issue ‘whether the CJI’s office comes under the purview of the RTI Act.’
