Union Law Minister M Veerappa Moily said the proposed amendments to the Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC) would come up for discussion in Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha during the Winter Session.

Speaking to reporters, he said President Pratibha Devisingh Patil had given her assent for the amendments.

The Law Ministry intended to hold discussions with the members of the Bar Council before making the amendments, he said.

Prime Minister Manmohan Singh was expected to visit the city during November to inaugurate the new terminal building of Bajpe International Airport, near here.

On flood relief works in Karnataka, Mr Moily said there should not be any politics in flood relief.

He reiterated that the UPA Government had not shown any ‘step motherly treatment’ towards Karnataka in releasing the funds’.

Any statement criticising the UPA Government on the issue of Central assistance for flood relief was only ‘politically motivated,’ he added.
