The Chhattisgarh High Court has accepted the petition that challenged the reservation rules which have been introduced for nagar panchayat for consideration and directed to issue a notice to the state government. Chief Justice Rajiv Gupta and Justice Sunil Kumar Sinha heard the petition, filed by vice-president of Tumgaon Nagar Panchayat Praveen Diwan and sought a reply from the state government after directing to serve the notice. The bench also directed to issue the reservation list of all 119 nagar panchayat in the state. The petitioner said civic bodies polls in the state would be held soon and the government had reserved 50 per cent reservation for women and apart from this additional 20 per cent reservation was announced for women increasing the reservation for women to 70 per cent. It said that by doing so the state government had violated the rules for reservation
